New experiences

Today we went for a drive to Titahi Bay. On the way we spotted a donkey in a small paddock outside the Elsdon Camp, so we stopped and I had a look at it. There were some other kids playing with it, and I was initially nervous, but eventually I felt safe once I understood it was behind a fence and wouldn't hurt me. I patted its head, and later fed it some long grass.

After that we went to the beach. It was quite windy so the water was a bit choppy. I walked on the sand towards the water, and then suddenly a wave came and water splashed all over my feet!! Then waves just kept coming and going, sucking the sand out from under my feet and then washing in seaweed that got tangled around my legs. It was all a bit scary because the water was foamy white as it approached, but I got confident and then I started enjoying running around in the water and splashing. Daddy picked me up and took me out into the water further and I had a good look at the sea. Daddy put me in the water and it was up to my knees. Then suddenly a BIG wave came and Daddy pulled me out of the water but it was too late and I got soaked, and Daddy did too!!

Dancin' Santa

We went to North City to get the cream the doctor prescribed for my legs. I had a ride in a police car (not a real one) which I enjoyed.
When we went downstairs I was walking along and suddenly I saw this giant red man with a long white beard swaying to and fro and singing. Well I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about him scared the living daylights out of me, and I panicked and screamed for a while. Daddy told me its just Santa, but this Santa was moving in this bizarre repetitive fashion, and his eyes were wide and staring.
We went for a drive after leaving North City, and spotted Malcolm and Lyn walking their new doggy. I got out of the car and had a look at it, but was really too scared to touch it. It managed to lick my face a few times.
After dinner I had a bath, which was fun as usual. After the bath Daddy let me run around naked for a while. Too long. See, I was in the kitchen and suddenly I had the urge to pee. Well, nothing has stopped me doing this whenever and wherever I want before, so I thought why should it be any different this time? It turns out that since I wasn't wearing a nappy, there was nothing to catch it, except the kitchen floor. I kept very quiet about it, and continued walking around, and sat down on daddy, who then noticed that my legs were all wet ... anyway, they didn't make me feel embarrassed about it so overall it was a positive experience. I.e. I know now that if I pee on the kitchen floor I won't get in trouble.
I like smacking Mummy and Daddy in the face. It seems that this, on the other hand, is not something that they like.

Blisters

I was supposed to go to the creche today, but I have these blistery sores on my legs. We went to the doctor and he said that it is probably just a viral infection that is harmless and will go away in a week.
After the doctor we went to the park near our home and played there a while.

Cha and Nga (hey that rhymes!)

I went with Daddy to a place called Cha - a Chinese cafe/cake shop/diner - and met Nga and her uncle and cousin and we had some cake!

The park

Today we went to a park with Grandma, Auntie Rachel, and Uncle Ansel. I really enjoyed going on the swing with Mummy ... but Auntie Rachel seemed to enjoy it more! I also went on some slides and a see-saw, and I found these things a bit scary, but exciting!

Great-Auntie Marcia

We are in Auckland now and my Great-Auntie Marcia came to visit.
