Return home

So after a nice trip where I got to meet all the family again, we returned to Wellington. As soon as I was in the door I took off crawling all the way from the front door to the hallway. I was very happy to explore with my newfound mobility. Mummy put up the cross-stich sign for my room that Susan gave us while I was doing my exercise.

Boxing day

Today we went to Susan's Aunt & Uncle's place for lunch. They have a very nice house & farm and I really enjoyed looking around in this new enviornment. I also had a bit of a crawl around in their huge lounge! Everyone got to eat massive strawberries except me. :-(

Christmas Day

Today was my first Christmas!! We had lunch with Aunt Susan & Uncle Ezekiel, and then Aunt Susan's parents, Grandma, Uncle Ansel, Aunt Rachel, & Grand Uncle Stephen arrived in the afternoon for a light dinner. I didn't get any good food to eat, just some fishy stuff. Ezekiel & Susan gave me a teddy bear wind chime for Christmas!

Marcia's place

In the morning I met this person ... I can't figure out if they are my uncle Ezekiel ... or Dame Edna! Hmm ...

We visited Marcia's place and had lunch. We hadn't planned on staying all day but ended up doing so. We went for a nice afternoon walk and then had a light dinner. Marcia gave me a nice handmade woollen doll for Christmas.

A test run

We went on the big bird (called a "aeroplane") again to Auckland to see the family up there. I wanted to travel up in the suitcase but Daddy said that unfortunately it was illegal. The flight went well, but I was disappointed they didn't give me anything to eat. Tonight I am sleeping in the portable cot at Ezekiel's place. I thought it was a funny cot, but I was too tired to care that it was different. Apparently this trip is a trial run for a mysterious, "bigger" trip which we will be undertaking soon.

BCG injection

Today we went again to Newtown and I had the BCG injection (immunisation against TB). We went in a taxi again and it was a really comfortable leather-seated taxi! I sat on Daddy's knee all the way there. Again i didn't cry at all when I got the injection although I wriggled a bit. Everyone seemed happy with that. After that we walked around Newtown shopping and I had a few short naps. When I woke up the second time, we were at the Foundation for the Blind office and I saw Leanne and Chrissy and Gary. We had a Christmas party which was basically a free feed (Daddy ate lots), a magician, and Santa came in towards the end of the evening. He gave me a present which turned out to be a glow-worm soft toy that plays tunes when I hug him. I like it, but it doesn't hold a candle to the bottle. I also got to meet some other families and other children with visual impairments.

Mantoux

Today I went to Newtown to have a Mantoux test (for TB exposure). They just pricked the skin on my wrist and everyone seemed very surprised when I didn't cry. We stayed there after that for 20 minutes and everything seemed fine so we walked from there to wellington to spend the day in the city.

Santa

I went with Daddy to see the Santa parade in Tawa. That was cool although the cars tooting their horns made me a bit worried. After the parade finished, I went to see Santa. He was sitting on top of his sleigh and the wind was blowing hard and so when he held me I get very upset and struggled so that Daddy couldn't get a good photo. When he finally did get one, I was still screaming and Santa's face was hidden completely behind his beard, which was being blown everywhere and seemed to move in a rather unnatural manner.
After that we went to a shop and Daddy seemed to be buying these long rolls with cream in them but I was so tired I fell to sleep.
